Orange County, Calif., December 15, 2006 --
Orange County Philanthropists Glenn and Mindy Stearns opened their Pelican Hill Estate this December to two hundred guests, treating them to an evening normally only experienced at corporate galas and Hollywood award shows. An all-star line-up entertained guests, whom generously donated more than two hundred toys for the Children of Canyon Acres Youth and Family Services. The event’s extraordinary performers were managed by Los Angeles-based Fortune Entertainment.
The evening opened with a stunning vocal performance from Opera Pacific who will be performing at the Stearns’s for the “Opera in the Raw”. Next the musical MASS Ensemble presented its unique fusion of technologically aural and kinetic performance art. MASS Ensemble is known for its original, large-scale instruments including the Earth Harp which world's largest stringed instrument. The Earth Harp took a full day to set up and tune and it was secured from the Stearns balcony running 60 feet onto the stage. The harp places the audience inside the instrument as the golden strings span out from the stage.
Paintings created on stage by world famous Live Art artist, Jean Francois Detaille, were auctioned to benefit Canyon Acres. Guests danced until midnight to the music of Power Point, hailed to be California’s number one dance band. Power Point’s appearances include, most recently, a private party for Tonight Show host Jay Leno and Shaquil O’Neal’s wedding. Performers included: Glen Holland; musician and manager, Durrell Coleman who holds the record for the largest number of wins on Star Search, Leroy Osborne; vocalist and regular guitarist for Sade, plus the world renowned jazz saxophonist Eric Marienthal.
Other special features of the evening included Hand Rolled Cigars, Fortune Tellers and Palm Readers, plus a unique Photography experience from Get Flipped.
